I’m most comfortable with a fresh, clean, makeup free face. Lippy and mascara are the only two make up products that are in my wheelhouse. Beyond that, seems like too many steps for me. But sometimes it is nice to go all out. This above look was not done by me but rather by a talented make up artist at Barneys. Here is a little secret for you! You can get your make up done for free with the expectation that you buy some product. I walked away with a glowing face, mascara, lipstick, and blush. Always fun to shake things up!

Meet Yon Hui Choi. The designer behind the very cool Seoul, Korean based clothing label, VIS A VIS. If I could empty my closet, I would start with a few pieces from VIS A VIS. Everything I see is truly 100% wearable with the undertone of menswear. Perfect for city dwellers. Clean lines, subtle detailing, uncomplicated comfortable pieces made from high quality fabrics. VIS A VIS could be your pathway to uniform dressing. Choi does not focus on seasons but rather on building upon her designs. She has a clear vision.
Choi started her career at Barneys with the men’s merchant team. It now makes total sense why she exclusively launched her first line with Barneys in 2015. This line is expensive but stay alert for sales. Think investment pieces. Appreciate the subtlety that makes these pieces go the distance with a fresh take on classic. La Garçonne is also an option.
A velvet blazer is always good and even better when on sale! If you lack a velvet blazer, you may want to take a peek at Faith Connexion. Faith Connexion is a Parisian label led by a collective of creatives who focus on combining art, fashion, and urban culture to create modern feminine styles for women. The line has a certain following but I find this blazer to be more approachable. A velvet blazer is a chic stylish piece. It swings from casual to formal and requires very little to make a statement. I love Faith Connexion’s approach to this classic piece with the tonal plaid pattern finished off with bold gold-toned shank buttons. Not boring and absolutely wearable! Typically a spendy line but Last Chance sale at Barneys for 75% off is worth considering.
It all works and you won’t be a walking trend. No fuss accessories that will give your wardrobe a refresh. A bit of color doesn’t hurt anyone. I know that black is so easy but so is adding a little color. The wrap is your base to work around. Underneath it I would wear neutrals consisting of a couple of layers (denim tuxedo and a cozy cardigan or jacket). Accessories that have complementing colors will give you a look that is a bit more interesting but not so obvious. Accessories are an easy way to express your own personal style.
